Yury Makarov

Research

Yury is a junior researcher at the Section of Typology at the Institute of Linguistics, RAS and a research fellow at Vinogradov Russian Language Institute, RAS. He administers pamiri.online and organises the research seminar on Iranian languages. Since 2024, Yury has been a member of the editorial board of the "Indo-Iranian Languages" journal.

Biography

Yury participated in three field trips to Pamir to study the Shughni language (2021–2023) and a trip to Vladizavkaz to study the Ossetic language (2023).

He is also a member of the Philological Society (PhilSoc), the British Association of Academic Phoneticians (BAAP) and the Association for Laboratory Phonology (LabPhon).
